Project Description

IncludeMe Project Concludes with Final Partner Meeting in Tallinn

From the 16th to 18th of September, project partners of IncludeMe: Inclusive educational opportunities for migrants and refugees with inadequate or postponed formal education gathered in Tallinn, Estonia, for the final in-person meeting. Hosted by the Association of Estonian Open Youth Centers, the event marked the conclusion of the two-year Erasmus+ strategic partnership project, which has focused on strengthening the competences of youth workers to better support young migrants and refugees.

During the meeting, partners reflected on the progress made, finalized project outputs, and planned upcoming dissemination activities to ensure the results reach youth workers, educators, and stakeholders across Europe.

Project results

The IncludeMe project set out to empower youth workers in their daily support of young migrants and refugees—particularly those with interrupted or insufficient formal education—by equipping them with practical tools, training, and resources. The project has delivered several key results:

  • Competence Framework outlining the essential skills youth workers need to support inclusion.
  • Educational Package and Training, addressing literacy, intercultural competences, and digital skills, now available through the e-learning platform.
  • Digital Learning Pills, short video resources for flexible use in youth work practice.
  • Career Guide, helping young people navigate education and the labour market.
  • Practical Guide for Resilience, supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young migrants and refugees.

Addressing real needs

Initial research conducted in partner countries revealed barriers such as complex bureaucratic procedures, lack of tailored language courses, discrimination, and limited access to adapted learning materials. At the same time, youth workers reported a lack of specialized training in cultural competences, trauma-informed approaches, and migration-related legislation.

By directly responding to these findings, IncludeMe has bridged an important gap: it offers youth workers structured learning, digital resources, and methods to foster inclusion and resilience, while empowering young migrants to build their independence and actively participate in society.

Impact for partner countries and beyond
For youth work in Europe, the project has brought concrete added value—better preparation of youth workers to work with diverse groups, tools for addressing discrimination, and easy-to-use digital resources. More broadly, IncludeMe strengthens youth work as a driver of social inclusion and as a bridge between young migrants and local communities.

Partnership
